Ducted systems hide their dirt
With a split you can see the mould; a ducted system tucks it in the ceiling. The return-air filter, indoor coil and fan build the same dust-and-mould layer, then distribute it to every room in the house through the ducts. If the startup smell is musty, the system is telling you it's due.
